Scalloped potatoes


Scalloped potatoes, originally uploaded by cabanagirl.

Who doesn't love these:
4 potatoes, peeled and sliced (1/4 inch thick)
milk, 1 cup
water, 1 cup
bay leaf, 1
salt
In a sauce pan cook potatoes in milk/water, bay leaf and salt until tender. Drain
I cup onions sauteed in butter until golden
1 1/2 cup Gruyere cheese, grated
garlic clove
nutmeg
pepper
2/3 cup milk
Rub a fresh clove of garlic In a baking dish and then rub with butter. Place half of the potato slices in the bottom of the pan, layer with half of the grated cheese and half of the onions. Grate fresh nutmeg and pepper on this layer. Add the rest of the potato slices and the rest of the cheese and onions. Pour the 2/3 cup cream over the layers and place in the oven at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to an hour until bubbly and golden.
