Today is Whitney's birthday! This year she spends it in Denver! Whitney's favorite color is blue so she gets a cupcake with aqua blue frosting. Instead of a candle....a big red heart. I love you, Whitney!

Today is my friend, Gloria's 82nd birthday. She is also my former mother-in-law but we really don't talk about that anymore. Now she is my friend. Much better, don't you think? Gloria is always encouraging me to do more watercolor work so I jumped out of my box of sketching first and just went to watercolor. Well actually I did both of these birthday cards simultaneously so that my stokes from the sketched image was fresh in my brain for the watercolor only cupcake. I might just try it again!

Saturday is my son-in-law's birthday. I was so inspired by the lovely red velvet cupcake I had the other day that I wanted to see it again. Today I will go to SusieCakes and buy him some real cupcakes. No watercolor cupcake substitute for him.

On election day a "NO on prop 8" supporter brought these beautiful red velvet cupcakes from Susiecakes to us poll workers at 6am. They were absolutely delicious and a good pick-me-up after hours of working. The donor's interest was defeated but like all of us had the freedom to express his personal opinion no matter how controversial or unpopular. This is a great democracy
