Weekend project

These bar chairs had made it out to the garage because of their color.  There was a time when red was perfect but not now ant not in this house.  I took another look at them and thought "But what if they were blue?"  I started this project last Sunday dressed in shorts and working outside in the January sunshine but this Sunday it is cold and we had nearly a foot of snow overnight.  I just had a few finishing touches left and now these chairs are new and back inside where they belong.  I am trying out this "Blissful flue" color for my kitchen cabinets (lowers only)

Chicken in the snow

Chicken in the snow, originally uploaded by cabanagirl.
Denver had another big dumping of snow on Saturday, about 12 inches. Spiderman ( a hen) wanted so bad to get to the barn to lay her turquoise blue egg but she had a struggle. Come on little chicken. You can do it.

Snowy day, originally uploaded by cabanagirl.
This is what it looks like outdoors. There has been about 12 inches so far but the wind is blowing (blizzard warnings) so it is hard to tell. The goats have their coats on, the chickens are hovering near the heat lamp inside their coop and Sophie is lying by the fire.

Twilight after the snow

It snowed again today...what a surprise but I just stepped outside and found these beautiful views of the trees holding on to the day's snow. These photos are of course in color but they seem black and white with the late light of the day and no foliage in sight. Enjoy!

Ok I planted my sunflowers late but it sort of describes us Californians in our first Colorado snow

Making tracks in the fresh morning snow!

Kate makin tracks, originally uploaded by cabanagirl.

It snowed again last night and this morning. It was a perfect opportunity to make tracks in the new fallen snow.... something I enjoyed doing as a skier. Kate is trying it out too. She circles the yard crunching on the snow and leaving her mark for the morning.

Snow on the Saddleback foothills

We had an "artic" rainstorm here for the last 3 days. When I left work last night my temperature gauge read 40 degrees. This morning the local foothills were dusted with snow. The elevation is about 2000 ft. For those of you who do not know this area, the beach is about 4 miles behind me.
