A hot March day

Today was a perfect day to work in the garden but by midday it was time for a little refreshment:  Ginger lemonaid.  I started with a recipe for lemon sorbet.  First I used a simple syrup (1/2 cup water, 1 cup sugar brought to a boil with the zest of 2 Meyer lemons.  Then I squeezed the juice of 3 lemons and 1 lime and added about 1 inch of fresh ginger, grated with a rasp and then combined everything.  In this glass filled with ice I added 1/4 cup of the mixture and the filled the glass with water.  Fresh from the Farmers' Market the strawberry topped it off.  It helped give me enough energy to finish the weeding and the pruning in my Japanese garden

It looks very refreshing and delicious. I think that would be a good drink any time of the year. I think I will make one today.
