Vegetables from my garden 8:24
Heirloom tomatoes, slender Japanese eggplant and a crookneck squash. These are the vegetables I picked from my garden this morning. I will add them to my pasta tonight!

Inside and Out, August 22
Greeting cards inspired by special occasions and the season's produce from the Farmers' Market. I found this packet of watercolor paper postcards and thought it would be great to share my sketches with my family this way. The plum is now in my tummy and the chilies are in the salsa for tonight's dinner. Bon Appetit!

Key Lime Tart
The dessert for the day...a good one for summer taken from Martha Stewart's website: http://www.marthastewart.com/portal/site/mslo/menuitem.fc77a0dbc44dd1611e3bf410b5900aa0/?vgnextoid=fe350abc79ae7110VgnVCM1000003d370a0aRCRD&vgnextfmt=default&rsc=header_1&autonomy_kw=key+lime+tart
I followed the recipe exactly today but I have used ginger snaps instead of graham crackers for the crust. My friend, Marjorie, uses a combination of lemon and lime juice...I squeezed Key limes fresh and used organic, free range chicken eggs. But it still is very decadent.

self portrait
Doesn't it look just like me? Some days yes. This was a project of my workshop at the International Quilt Festival taught by Yvonne Porcella. It is a collage of fabric, machine appliqued and embellished with buttons (some vintage) crystals, and fibers. She makes me smile

Save the Beach
This is my first graffiti art quilt It was inspired by my teachers at the International Quilt Festival (July 2008) Traci Bautista and Lisa Engelbrecht. Lots of processes here. The base is a painted muslin. Then I collaged painted papers (including newsprint) and cloth. I then painted Mr. Pelican, wrote my message, then over painted, over stamped and stenciled and embellished with a vintage dandelion ribbon and vintage buttons. All of my art quilts have the ribbon, button and bead elements added. I just have to. I first did some pelican sketches and then took a big plunge to transfer it to the "poster". I am now looking for the perfect piece of driftwood to hang it by.
Anna in the Japanese Garden
I planted this apple tree 7 years ago when I moved into my home. I thought it would be a good addition to my Japanese garden. They are delicious.
