Spring may be on its way

icicles, April 24, originally uploaded by cabanagirl.

Five days ago I took this photo after another Spring snow storm. I again had to shovel my way to the garage to drive to work. But the sun has finally come out and warmed this iceland. And now I have weeds in the grass. Some little girls weave dandelions into hair decorations http://www.flickr.com/photos/bswest/6913582084/in/photostream/ but I make them into lunch.
I hope this is the beginning of Spring for sure.

Still winter

purple hyacinths, originally uploaded by cabanagirl.

Well it's April 15th and it's still Winter in Denver. last Monday I took this picture of a few of my 60 hyacinths in bloom. We expected a huge storm with really cold temps. I picked as many bulb blooms as I could and covered as many as garden fabric would allow. Wednesday morning it was a record 6 deg and every blossom in Denver froze beyond repair. All daffodils, all tulips, all raspberries and roses and what made me the saddest: all fruit tree blossoms. That means no fruit and no more flowers from bulbs. And now it's snowing again. We will be in the 30s and lower until Friday. Where's a beach?
