Hoppy Easter

Easter ride, originally uploaded by cabanagirl.

I hope you all have a wonderful, sweet and sunny Easter.
I found this Easter ornament and decided it would make good subject matter for sketching

The BLUES, or is it the PURPLES?

The Denver blues: Today it is 37 degrees....isn't it Spring? Isn't the sky supposed to be blue? Are Violets Blue? How about Dutch irises? Pansies? Blue or Purple? Grape hyacinths should be purple. Blue hyacinths should be blue. And Brussels sprouts? Really? Purple? How about Cabbage seedlings?
I do wish the real Spring would get here soon and the Blues will turn into sunny days

April Blooms

April Blooms, originally uploaded by cabanagirl.

Last October I planted 250+ bulbs to my very bare garden anticipating a spring bloom I could only buy in California. Even though Denver is still very brown and the sun and warmth is "iffy" the bulbs are popping through the soil. This morning I picked white and cream daffodils, pale yellow and pink tulips and white hyacinth. I placed them in my glass vase and started to sketch.

New girls

chicks in the box, originally uploaded by cabanagirl.

Here are my new baby chicks. I'm hoping that they will grow to be happy chickens and give us lots of eggs. Right now they are 2 days old. They hatched on Wednesday and were sent via mail to my local feed store. Two are Americaunas and will lay blue, green or even pink eggs. The yellow ones are Buff Orpingtons and will lay brown eggs. Right now they are living in a cardboard box, with a heat lamp waiting for names.

From journal entry to wine label

prickly pear cactus in bloom, originally uploaded by cabanagirl.

A few days ago Barbara Pasero, a graphic designer from Italy asked if she could use my watercolor for a private wine label in Sicily. OMG this was exciting to me....especially since I love wine & Italy. Here is my journal entry from January 1 2009. These cacti were in full bloom during the holidays at the beach in California. Now it will be on a private wine label.

New Wine Label!!!!!
