My chickens are getting big and the pressure is on to get them into their own home so Monday I was on a deadline to get this coop completed. Shaking a roof was an incredible process and just minutes after the cap was screwed into place and the chickens were inside enjoying their new roof the sky opened up and dumped on the coop. Thunder and lightening completed the debut. Guess what? Not a drop of rain inside!! The Dutch doors went on in the afternoon with help from Ryan. All that's left is a little tweek on the front siding and the windows and nesting box. The chickens will be out of the basement soon

Chicken coop & chicken
The baby chicks are growing fast and will soon outgrow their cardboard box brooder in the basement. So I am busy building them a coop....well when the weather permits. Last Monday I raised the four walls but still no roof or doors and windows so a lot of good this does the girls. I hope the sun comes out soon or at least the rain stops long enough for me to get this done this weekend

Happy Mother's Day!
What a beautiful day in Denver.80+ deg with a breeze. After working joyfully in the garden Saturday and this morning my Denver family and I went for a bike ride and a picnic in downtown Denver. Our ride was along Confluence Park, where the Cherry Creek and South Platte river join. There is even a beach. With such a warm day we did our share of beaching. In the back of this picture is the flagship REI building complete with rock climbing indoors. What a great day!
